About Marathon

Midway through the chain of islands known as the Florida Keys is the city of Marathon. This ten mile long city is located on several different islands, including Grassy Key, Fat Deer Key, and Vaca Key, among others. The charming city is known for its hold to the historical traditions of the small town Keys lifestyle, while still providing all of the modern conveniences of larger cities.

Like the rest of the Florida Keys, the mainstay of the economic and recreational spheres is the water. One of the biggest draws to Marathon is the inclusion of one of the Florida Keys' only airports. Traveling throughout the Florida Keys can be tedious and slow, with only one main road connecting the islands. It can often take several hours to drive from Key Largo in the north to Key West in the south. However, residents or visitors to Marathon have the luxury of flying directly into the city, saving time that is much more fun spent on a boat, than stuck in traffic.
